Midnight Madness...

The shock of lightning

Strike the midnight skies

Thunderbolts at a distance

Bring mania to my mind

Silhouettes in the dark

In a place I do not recognize

They whisper about

While a fear paralyzed

No where to run

No where to hide

Oh God!

Please take this picture off my mind

I can feel them closer

Trying to consume me

No power to resist

This potent energy

Eyes opened wide

I see familiar things

It was just a nightmare

Phew! What a relief!

21.06.08 – The longest day

Although I look forward to every holiday I take, I never know what to expect from it.

I was meant to take a scheduled morning flight from Geneva to Edinburgh and then meant to drive leisurely back home.
Such a thing never happened!!

21.06.08
06.30 am – The alarm blares into my ears. A rude wake up call

08.00 am – Ready for a cold breakfast.

08.30 am – Checked out of the hotel and ready to head back home

09.00 am – Checked in at the airport desk of Easy Jet. (A cheap way to fly in Europe)

10.30 am - Boarded the flight due to depart at 10.45 am

10.50 am – Still waiting to depart. The engine seems to make funny noises.

11.15 am- The pilot announces that the engine check shows an error and he needs to call the ground staff for further inquiry. In the meantime we are supposed to sit back in the aircraft till further notice.

12.15 pm – The pilot announces that the one of the engines of the aircraft has failed and we will have to go back to the terminal building till they sort out what can be done. (Thank God they realized this major problem before the flight took off!)

13.00 pm- Passengers are still wondering whether no news is good news.

13.30 pm- Food and snacks vouchers are distributed to all passengers, and we r asked to inquire again at 20.00 pm in the night for further notice. Nobody has a clue as to what went wrong but the only thing we are assured that the flight will take off and we should not leave the airport.

18.00 pm- Still frantically waiting for further notice.

18.30 pm- We are told that our flight will depart at 21.30 pm. I was reminded of Tom Hanks in the movie ‘terminal’

21.20 pm- we have still not boarded the flight. This time there is a problem with the air conditioning unit of the aircraft and our departure is delayed to 22.10 pm. There are some agitated passengers and some really cranky children around!
Also ours was one of the last flights to take off since the Geneva airport shuts down at night!!

22.15 pm- Finally..Finally…we are ready for take off!

21.06.08 ( British Standard Time)
23.30 pm- Landed safely at Edinburgh Airport. Judging by the airport staff and the number of passengers I believe that ours was one of the last flights to arrive.
( Never realized that airports shut down at night)

00.0 am- Collected the luggage, and made our way to the car park. It is raining cats and dogs in Edinburgh and I have yet to fill petrol in my car.

00.45 am – The roads are very unfamiliar, it is pitch dark and the weather is as crazy as it can be. My Sat Nav shows 175 miles back home and I was tired already!

01.45 am- Luckily I could count on my father to drive some miles for me. Thought it was best to drive back slowly than look for a Bed and Breakfast.

02.15 am- A very faint light in the sky. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. But I realized soon that up north in Scotland the days are even longer! The rain had stopped and I was good to drive again.

04.35 am- Reached Home. Hit the bed as soon as I saw it.

It’s purely a co-incidence that my longest day turned out to be this year’s longest day as well!

Just when I start to think everything is perfect…disaster strikes!

The irony is that two days later I took another Easy jet flight to London and back without any delays or chaos!

Bollywood ishtyle....

I can't count the number of times I have watched a Hindi movie and thought of the story line to be surreal and silly. I find it hilarious to watch actors running around trees or fighting the most bizarre fight sequence wherein the hero never dies. Also, How can I forget to mention the ever popular “kyonki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi “ TV serials which seem so impractical to the logical mind.

Yet,
I have to admit the fact that real life can sometimes be more dramatic than what we see in a bollywood masala movie. All you need is a villain, a lover, a motive and some exotic locations (keeping up with latest Hindi movie trend) and you can probably find yourself living a movie sequence. If you can sing and dance, that’s even better ;)
That in no way was meant to be sarcastic!

If you honestly looked into your life I am sure you would find at least a trace of anger, hatred, deceit, fear, love, joy, in short everything bollywood in it!!
And if you don’t find even a hint of bollywood in your life….you haven’t lived yet!!

In true bollywood ishtyle, let me say ‘Good will triumph over evil’. If a story doesn’t have a happy ending, it hasn’t ended yet...
or so i think!

Two Strangers...

A chanced meeting

An exchange of smiles

And a quick turn

To steal another glance

Only to be caught in the act !

A rush to the head

A flush to the face

My-o-My what a spark

Attraction can create!

A déjà vu

A trick of fate

Does the story begin here?

Or will it only end?

A moment passed

A walk away

Left longing for

A rendezvous Again!!

I ! Me ! Myself !

While I aim to solve the complex…the simple escapes me

Love the attention…yet detest the spotlight

Dare…but fear all that comes my way

In pursuit of…yet lazy to the point of inertia

Talk my heart out…and still listen too

Crave for hustle bustle…want my peace and quiet

Two faced…but don’t deal with deceit

Focussed… yet prone to distractions

The world should revolve around me…but I seem to live in one of my own

It’s a wonder I still function…although known to malfunction ;)

Aren’t we all complicated human beings?

Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy

Neither am I a hitchhiker nor a guide…I just loved the book. The author in his comical sci-fi way has hit the nail hard on the head to some underlying questions, answers to which we still seek!

Are we really alone or is there life in a different plane of the universe? Is earth just an experiment by life forms more evolved than us? What happens to us after we die? What is the purpose of life itself?
However much you might deny it….the fact is somewhere deep inside us we are all curious to find the answer to these ultimate questions.

There is an unknown force in this universe which we cannot control and yet we are so intricately linked to it in many ways. This is the very force that conspires in bringing to us what we really want at the same time take away what we truly desire at the snap of a finger.

Your school of thought could be science or religion, Charles Darwin’s theories or the theology in the holy books. I believe them to be mere speculations of the whole picture that hides from us.

‘The Truth is still out there’

Hopefully, If I keep looking then it will find me someday!

Nothing is constant BUT change

In a jiffy…Another year has gone by…….!!!

Come New Years Eve and there is a festive excitement in the air. It is a time to make new resolutions with a zest to start afresh and let bygones be bygones!
The clock strikes 12 while you toast to a hope of a better tomorrow and gear up to ride new flights of fantasy!

Just after the jubilation dies down and there is nothing more to rejoice about, I feel a void difficult to describe. It is as if I have left some part of me behind and no matter what I cannot get it back!!

After all….Years will turn to decades and decades to centuries…
Nothing endures but CHANGE

Wishing happiness and prosperity to all!
Cheers!!
